So you want to become a professional tarot card reader.

The good news is you’ve picked the perfect time. Since the start of the COVID pandemic, there’s been a huge surge in demand for psychic services, particularly tarot readings. It seems the uncertainties of the pandemic – combined with more time spent at home – has led more people to seek clarity on their personal, romantic, and working lives.

But if you’re new to the business, you’re probably a little unsure about how to get started. What exactly do you need to do to start making money from tarot card readings? What’s the safest, most reliable way to build an income from your psychic gift?

Luckily for you, we’ve broken it down into 5 simple steps.

1, Get familiar with the cards

Obviously, to become a tarot reader, you need to be familiar with the cards.

Many new readers feel intimidated by the tarot initially. With 78 cards in a deck, how do you learn the meaning behind them all?

But you’ll find plenty of helpful resources online, from free tarot reading guides to video tutorials.

And you can start small, by pulling one card from the deck each morning. Think carefully about its meaning and keep that card in your mind throughout the day. It’s a great way to build a deeper, lasting connection to the cards. And it will set you up to be a more intuitive, insightful reader going forward.

2, Practice reading for friends and family

You don’t need any formal training or qualifications to become a professional tarot card reader.

But having some experience under your belt will put you at a huge advantage. And an easy way to gain some is by giving free readings to friends and family.

Try to treat these practice readings like the real thing. So don’t just focus on what the cards are telling you. Focus also on how you deliver your reading to the ‘client’. Because when you do give real tarot readings professionally, excellent customer service skills will be the key to attracting repeat business.

3, Join a reputable psychic chatline

Once you feel confident reading the tarot for others, it’s time to start making money from it.

No doubt the quickest, easiest way to earn as a tarot reader is by joining a psychic chatline as a host or operator.

Rather than face-to-face readings, working on a psychic chatline allows you to deliver phone or text readings from your own home. So there’s no big set-up costs or hassle. To get started, all you need is a phone, internet connection, and a quiet space in your house to work.

You’ll find hundreds of psychic chatlines choose from these days. But not all offer the same rates of pay and levels of support.

That’s why it pays to register with Chatrecruit. We can get you working on a psychic chatline that provides generous payout rates, regular customer traffic, and 24/7 support.

4, Promote yourself

Like we said, a good psychic chatline will provide you with some customer traffic. So as soon as you join, you’ll start getting phone and text reading requests directed your way.

But if you want to maximise your income, it’s important not to rely solely on this traffic. You want to promote yourself to attract and grow your own client base, too.

So make sure you have a strong social media presence. Post regularly on channels like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter. And use hashtags that will help you get discovered by new customers seeking tarot readings. (If you’re not sure which hashtags to use, get inspiration from other tarot readers’ accounts.)

On all your social channels, remember to include direct links to your psychic chat profile. That way, your followers will know exactly where to go to request a reading.

5, Deliver excellent customer service

Finally, to be a successful professional tarot card reader, you need to do more than just interpret the cards.

You need to deliver an excellent overall experience for your client. And that experience needs to start from the moment they call or text to ask for a reading.

So make sure you always:
